I discovered this great band by accident back in the Winter of 2000. I was only 21 at the time. My buddy and I were going into town to see a local band play in Pittsburgh. It was snowing like hell that night and the windshield wipers didn't work on my buddy's Ford Escort. He actually held a wiper out the window to manually clean the snow off the windshield while driving. Crazy. Lol. The roads were so bad and anyway we were late and missed the show so we headed over to Oakland in Pittsburgh and randomly stopped at the Beehive Theater hoping to see some live music. We walked in and they said Mastermind and Symphony X were playing that night. We were so blown away by the musicianship. I've seen lots of great bands over the years but Mastermind sticks out above the rest. It was destiny to see them that night I believe. Thanks Bill, Rich, Lisa and Jens for an incredible album.

Jens Johansson and Lisa Bouchelle gave on this album their best performance of their career, i heard some songs from Lisa solo albums, she sings nice but there's no real challenge in her albums which are pop/rock albums, Jens did some amazing things in the past but here his role is much bigger, the Berends brothers are super musicians, this album is one of the last great prog rock/metal albums by far, i have this cd, for me it is a treasure, thanks Bill, Rich, Jens and Lisa.

I am catching up with your videos, Bill. I first saw you open for John Wetton in 1995 at the TLA - With an ACOUSTIC set! ( We'll keep that memory flogger here!) I sent Akiko Takahashi, drummer for ARS NOVA 4 pictures from a gig ARS NOVA and Mastermind did at that Trenton bar, October 1998. That was a great gig, fond memories, Bill! Carry on!

Bill Laura and Tracy really were excellent Vocalists for Mastermind. This is a great song. Rich going for it - riveting!

Brilliant !! It's really nice to have this concert... Even though the image quality isn't top notch, the sound isn't too bad... You were using tapes for the orchestral / keyboard/guitar synths parts, there, I suppose ? Well, it seems there's no keyboard parts on the first track... Wonderful to be able to sing while playing all these complex parts.

I've loved this incredible composition ever since I first heard it a quarter of a century ago. I was so gratified when Mastermind played my hometown in about 2003. I like all their music but this is my favorite work and I sat on the floor of the dance-hall of the bar in amazement just soaking in the music as Mastermind played this piece in its entirety. Maybe people thought I was odd but I was completely transfixed! Great version here; it sounds fantastic.

Great! I have always liked this suite since, in 98, I bought (after reading a good review) the Brainstorm album. I found good songs, two suites and two classical pieces rearranged. Yeah! 😄 I soon after bought the other CD's as well. Good purchase! Probably Brainstorm remains my favorite, but I like them all. Always wondered why they are not more famous. They deserved to be! Bill Berends made a lot of work, on those albums... And what a good work! I also liked the instrumental album Excelsior, and the one with the female singer too, even though in my opinion the "real" voice of Mastermind is Bill's. But, if I may ask, where is Rich??? This drummer is really good too obviously, but I have always considered Mastermind the band with the Two Brothers (like Van Halen). It seem something is missing, and Rich's work on the drums in the albums is nothing less than awesome! I repeat, no disrespect for this drummer at all! He makes a good work too. Bought this CD the year it was published. And I already had their previous CD's, bought them in 98, when I discovered this group, due to a review on a magazine. Really like them all. Probably my favorite is their second album, titled Brainstorm. But all are good. Berend Brothers really are very skilled musicians, and on their albums recorded before this they made all. One played the drums, the other played guitar, bass, keyboards, sang, composed all and draw the artwork too! 😄 Live, of course, they had other musicians. Greetings from Italy!

The Beast Of Babylon is mystical majesty great song. This is my favorite album.

Great album (I have the CD) in almost every aspect. But the cymbals are often subdued and don't have any hang, almost like they're electronic. Jens does an awesome job on the keys -- great choice to bring him on board. The Endless Enigma is an amazingly well done song that is about as close of an ELP reincarnation as anyone can do. Great job guys (and girls)!!
